Qigong is a system of coordinated body-posture and movement, breathing, and meditation said to be useful for the purposes of health, spirituality, and martial arts training. With roots in Chinese medicine, philosophy, and martial arts, qigong is traditionally viewed by the Chinese and throughout Asia as a practice to cultivate and balance the mystical life-force qi.
Qigong practice typically involves moving meditation, coordinating slow-flowing movement, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind.
During the 2nd Qigong session on June 15th, we will review the warm up routine introduced on Day 1 with time allowed for Q & A. We will also complete all 8 Brocades with TCM (traditional Chinese medicine closing) additional time at the end for an overall Q & A.
"Ba Duan Jin" (also known as "Eight Brocades") is a traditional Chinese Qigong exercise set that combines slow movements, deep breathing, and meditation to promote health and balance. It's known for its gentle yet powerful movements that can help improve flexibility, circulation, and overall well-being.
The Eight Brocades typically consist of eight specific exercises, each with its own unique benefits and focus. Some of the exercises include:
1. "Supporting the Heavens with Both Hands" - This exercise helps to stretch and relax the shoulders and upper back.
2. "Drawing the Bow to Shoot the Eagle" - This exercise helps to improve balance and flexibility in the arms and shoulders.
3. "Separating the Clouds to Find the Sun" - This exercise helps to improve flexibility and balance in the torso.
