Ash Shukla came from India in 1989 with $20 and not a word of English.

After studying computer science and math in college, he entered the financial services industry in 1994 as an insurance professional with a subsidiary of City Group. He later acquired investment licenses and became a financial advisor. Following roles as a branch manager and a private wealth manager at two banks, Ash started his own practice as an independent advisor in 2004.

Ash knows what it’s like to overcome adversity. He struggled during his first seven years in the financial services industry, from failing his exams due to his English barrier to not being able to serve clients due to lack of training and skill. Despite his early struggles, however, he persevered and today considers himself lucky to have been in the industry for more than two decades.

Ash has a Series 65 securities license and is a licensed agent in the following lines of insurance in the state of Maryland: life, health, variable annuity, property and casualty.

Helping other small business owners succeed is Ash’s secondary passion. He has been a keynote speaker for Small Business Development Centers in Maryland as well as for several universities and congressmen. In 2012, he was recognized with the honor of having a U.S. flag flown over our nation’s capital for his contribution to small business owners. He is the author of four books, including the Amazon best-selling book, “Sell Like Crazy,” published in 2012, and has been featured on WOLB 1010AM in Baltimore as well as on Thrive Radio.

Active in several organizations, Ash is an event ambassador of Smart CEO, a board member of the Asian American Retailers Association (AARA) and a member of Team Network and eWomenNetwork.

Ash lives in Ellicott City, Maryland. In his free time, he enjoys swimming; playing volleyball, cricket and basketball; spending time with family, including his wife and daughter; and networking with other business owners.
