The Awakenings Project is coming to Nourishing Journey in Columbia!

The Awakenings Project is the artistic concept of Marissa Southards, of Southards Art Studio, based in St. Louis, MO that began in the Fall of 2016. What began as a single affirmation photo idea posted to social media, has now grown to over 200 participants, and several volumes of work covering multiple U.S. cities.

The goal of the project is the empowerment of women, girls, and woman identifying individuals through body positivity and self-actualization. Participants are asked to think of a word that best describes them. From that word, the participants are charged to embody its power through its placement on the body and the subsequent photo. The result being the mantra of the project, "Society does not define us, we define ourselves."

Saturday, Oct. 20th from 10am to 4pm

Sunday, Oct. 21st from 10am to 4pm

Each participant will receive a copy of their print emailed to them . Participation in The Awakenings Project is free, however, should you wish to contribute to this mission, the recommended love donation is $15-20
