Vijiya Rathod, PT, CIMI, GFI has been practicing physical therapy for over 20 years providing a holistic approach to patient care. She has worked with a broad range of neurological as well as orthopedic conditions. Some of her speciality areas include John Barnes style Myofascial Release, Pediatrics, and Aquatic Therapy. She has had the privilege of interning under John Barnes, P.T., LMT, NCTMB - the founding father of Myofascial Release, and she has taken a lot of advanced training with the medium of Myofascial Release. Vijiya has also delivered MFR educational workshops, seminars, and been a guest speaker on the topic of MFR both nationally and internationally.
Vijiya received her Physical Therapy Degree from University of Illinois at Chicago in 1998. She has had additional specialty training in the areas of Pediatrics, Aquatics, and the John Barnes Approach of Myofascial Release. Vijiya continually strives to heighten and expand her skill set and professional growth. Additionally, in the past 2 years she has done a significant amount of cross training with Energy Practitioners, and therefore she has a solid energetic component in her style of MFR treatment.
To expand, the primary tool Vijiya utilizes, Myofascial Release, or MFR, is a highly specialized form of whole body evaluation and hands-on treatment. After determining the probable origins of your symptoms, her role is to use MFR techniques to normalize fascial dysfunctions, and facilitate the body's innate ability to heal itself and restore balance throughout the body.

“I have lived my entire life receiving more rounds of PT, OT, and ST than I can count. I have never really gotten much help for my spasticity, pain, and functioning from traditional physical therapy. But, I noticed a difference after my first MFR session. Since my sessions have ended, I keep my self MFR home practice going weekly. I truly feel it helps keep my functioning up, when everything on paper says I should be in a nursing home. I am thankful to have found MFR and the impact it has had on my functioning and quality of life.”
