Event Description

Enjoy a beginner-friendly practice of Kundalini yoga to release tension and facilitate a calm and meditative mind, followed by a heart-opening experience of sacred chant and spiritual song. Kundalini Yoga with Live Music: Kundalini Yoga is a spiritual practice offering many tools and techniques that allow us to access stillness and peace in class together and in our daily lives. The work includes mantra, breathwork, rhythmic movement, deep relaxation, and meditation to bring about balance and harmony in body, mind, emotions, and spirit. An experiential, exploratory practice, Kundalini Yoga meets you where you are; no prior yoga experience is necessary. Live drumming and banjo provided by Joseppi.  Crystal bowl and vocal sound healing by Bij and Joseppi during deep relaxation.   Medicine of the Voice: Follow The Oh My Starlings soulful harmonies and groovy drum beats on a journey into the heart via sacred mantras, hymns, medicine songs, and beloved folk songs. Emerge uplifted, renewed, and full of joyful appreciation for self, community, and life on this big beautiful planet.

About the artists:

The Oh My Starlings (the OMS) are a musical duo and couple based out of Frederick, MD.   Their love of kundalini yoga, their passion for music, and their connection to nature coupled with their similar musical influences and tastes makes for an incredibly creative partnership.  Their offerings of live-music enhanced yoga, sacred song, and ecstatic dance serve to provide opportunities for self-exploration and connection to community and to the Earth. 

Bij is a Kundalini Yoga teacher and sacred chant artist with a voice of timeless clarity and beauty that moves the soul.  Accompanied by her harmonium and ukulele, she sings to facilitate direct experiences of great love and peace and to inspire deeper connection to self, community, and the Earth.  She performed with the band The RizOMes at the Lovelight Festival in 2018 and with them she regularly shares sacred chant and spiritual songs at house concerts, cacao ceremonies, and benefit concerts.

Joseppi is a world music recording artist with songs rotating on iTunes and Spotify. In 2013, his song “Rich Man” was the #1 most played song on KVNF radio. In 2014, he was a finalist in the Carbondale Mountain Fair Singer/Songwriter competition.  In 2016, his song “Take It All Away," received the most views on YouTube for independent artists in the DMV. Joseppi is a soulful singer and musician who plays a variety of instruments including the banjo, kalimba, guitar, and percussion and utilizes the loop pedal to create enchanting sound scapes.
